Happy Birthday Gavin

I still remember the day that big ol' dad and I went in to have the ultrasound to make sure our first little peanut had all it's arms and legs and fingers and toes, and of course to make sure our little peanut was a healthy little peanut. As a bonus we were gonna find out what flavor our peanut was. When the ultrasound wand pointed to the parts and we discovered that our IT was a HE and that we were gonna have our first son I was so overjoyed and extremely excited for the big ol' dad. Every daddy dreams of having a son, but I had NO IDEA at the time how this sweet little son with his head full of hair and long dark lashes and tender sweet heart would do to me.
Nearly everyday for the past 18 years he has melted my heart over and over again. He gives me a bear hug everyday and tells me he loves me at least ten times that. He is mine forever and I am one lucky momma.
Gavin, in this crazy time in your life when you're faced with so many directions to go and are influenced and pulled every which way, don't forget that your momma and big ol' dad love and adore you and we will help you any way you'll let us. You can always count on our love. No matter what you decide to do in your life, with all the joys and sorrows that will come your way, you will always have your parents love. It is unchanging and unconditional. And even more than we love you, your Father in Heaven loves you. And just like us, all He wants for you is to be happy and return to Him. You know who you are. Believe it. And Remember...

Be still and go on to bed,
Nobody knows what lies ahead,
And life is short to say the least,
We're in the belly of the beast,
Be still,
Wild and young,
Long may your innocence reign,
Like shells on the shore,
And may your limits be unknown,
May your efforts be your own,
If you ever feel you can't take it anymore,
Don't break character,
You've got a lot of heart,

Is this real or just a dream?
Rise up like the sun,
Labor 'till the work is done,
Be still,
One day you'll leave,
Fearlessness on your sleeves,
When you come back,
Tell me what did you see?
(What did you see?)
Was there something out there for me?
Be still,
Close your eyes,
Soon enough you'll be on your own,
Steady and straight,
And if they drag you through the mud,
It doesn't change whats in your blood,

(Over chains)
Over chains,
When they knock you down,
Don't break character, You've got a lot of heart,
Is this real or just a dream,
Be still,
Be still,
Be still,
Be still,
Over rock and chain,
Over sunset plain,
Over trap and snare,
When you're in too deep,
In your wildness dream,
In your made up schemes,
When they knock you down,
When they knock you down,
Don't break character, You've got so much heart,
Is this real or just a dream.
Oh rise up like the sun and labor till the work is done,
Rise up like the sun and labor till the work is,
Rise up like the sun and labor till the work is done.
